What Is in the Formula
Seven care ingredients
THE OX is formulated with seven care ingredients, grouped by the role they play:
- Moisture: Sodium hyaluronate, L-arginine, PCA-Na, olive oil.
- Hair protection: Hydrolysed keratin, hydrolysed silk.
- Skin conditioning: Dipotassium glycyrrhizate.
These are included to help support moisture and manageability through the colour service, which can be useful on hair that has already been coloured, heat-styled or chemically treated.
pH held at around 3
The formula uses two pH-adjusting ingredients, phosphoric acid and sodium citrate, to keep the pH at approximately 3. This is designed to help reduce irritation during professional colour services.
An emulsion built for handling
THE OX is an emulsion-type developer combining a silicone component with a stable emulsifier. The intention is a mix that stays stable in the bowl and spreads evenly on application, including on damaged hair.
In practice this is the part that shows up during a service — how easily it blends with the first agent, and whether it drags when working through the mid-lengths.
Choosing Between 6% and 3%
6% is generally used where around one to two levels of lift are needed, and for grey coverage. 3% is generally used for tone-on-tone work and toning, where little or no lift is wanted.
Mixing ratio and processing time are set by the first agent, not by the developer. Always follow the instructions supplied with the colour, bleach or colour remover being mixed with it.

Handling notes

- Do not use if you have ever had a rash or irritation from hair colour.

- The pouch is made from a soft material. Handle with care during transport and storage, and avoid pressing or tilting it with the cap open.
